    My research lies in English literature and English education, with particular interests in Elizabethan drama (Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe), extensive reading/listening, shadowing, reading materials, teachers’ motivation, and overseas study. I have used the SSS (Start with Simple Stories) extensive reading method with university students for nine years. I am a member of the English Literary Society of Japan, the Shakespeare Society of Japan, the Japan Association for Language Teaching, and the Japan Association of College English Teachers. I have also been Vice-President of the Japan Extensive Reading Association since 2012.
