Messages from Students

A student from the U.S.

“Lots of options, extensive support.”

After studying Japanese for four years, I developed an interest in Japanese grammar and culture, so I decided to take advantage of a one-year foreign exchange program to study at Kobe International University. My goal is to speak Japanese, fluently and through my Japanese to enjoy Japan, make lots of friends, and experience Japanese culture. I also feel that I’ve been able to grow personally outside of my study of Japanese. I have many dreams for the future?becoming a musician, banker or Japanese teacher, for example?so I’m going to take my time deciding what to do with my life.

A student from China

“I used to be timid, but now I’ve gained the ability to embrace challenges.”

I started studying Japanese in China and became interested in Japanese culture and other areas. In the future, I’d like to work for a Japanese company in China. In order to make the most of my time as an international student, I feel that it’s important to embrace challenges. By participating in a speech contest, I stopped being timid and gained the ability to do just that. Right now I’m enjoying my life and making lots of Japanese friends by doing things like participating in seminar trips.
